But as far as Kelly was concerned, Nikki came to see HER! She even gave up her new bed to Miss Nikki for a night. They played together, read stories, we went shopping, lunched, and had a great time! Kelly loves, loves, LOVES Miss Nikki!
On the day Nik was leaving though, I got a good reminder lesson about how 3-yr-olds are such literal thinkers and that you really need to be careful with that sometimes.... When we were driving Nik to the airport, Kelly was saying she wanted to go on the plane with her. We were sort of teasing and joking saying, "Yeah ok! Hey Nik wanna take her home with you?" ha-ha. "Sure!! What's one more!?" hee-hee, etc. etc.
Well, when Nik got out, gave us hugs and started off toward the door w/her bags, Kelly shot me a panicked look and said, "Mommy, NO! I am going with Miss Nikki on the plaaaaaane!!" It still didn't really hit me what I had done until I started driving away, and she started bawling her little eyes out - not a tantrum this time - just truly an "I'm so sad" cry. Oh man, did I feel awful! I apologized profusely to her and tried to explain to her that we were kidding...duh, a lost explanation on a 3-yr-old as well. I promised that we'd go see Miss Nikki and L&L very soon though. She has such an amazing memory, so she has already reminded me of this promise a couple of times now. I'll be making the plane reservations very soon!
