Just a funny conversation Kelly & I had the other day....I was driving Kelly to daycare one morning last week, going south on the 5 Fwy. We hit it at a particularly busy time, so even though daycare is just one little exit south, we were sitting stopped in the slow lane in traffic. This is one of many examples of how I as a parent can sometimes overcomplicate explanations or try to describe something in too many ways. But when Kelly gets it, she reminds me of a much simpler way I could have described it!
Our talk went like this:
Kelly: "MOMMY! Look at all the CARS!"
Me: "Yes, sweetie, there are a LOT of cars on the highway today, huh?"
Kelly: "Yeeah! .... They not moving!"
Me: "Yep. That's right. We're all just sitting here. This is called TRAFFIC, Kelly. That is when a whole bunch of cars are all trying to go someplace together and there are too many, so no one can move. Can you say TRAFFIC?"
Kelly: "TWAFIK!!"
Me: "Yeeeah, baby that's it!"
Kelly: Looking around at the cars...thinking for a moment.... then, "Mommy the cars awr STUCK!!!
Me: Laughing. "That's right baby! We're STUCK!"
Kelly: Smiling and looking very proud of herself. "Yeeah, stuck!"
...A place for all things KELLY (which also occasionally includes info about and photos of Kelly's mom, dad, brothers and other family members & friends too...but mostly KELLY!)

The Many (Silly) Faces of Kelly
One of our favorite bathtime activities of late is trying to make as many different types of silly faces at each other as possible. I usually win because I come up with so many new and different ones, and usually she is laughing so hard she can't keep a straight (silly) face long enough! But on this particular evening, she was on a roll and had me busting up! Thankfully I was able to regain control enough to grab the camera! What was really funny is that she would get all serious in between looks like she was trying to hold it together and concentrate on coming up with her next silly face. We may have a budding actress here! I need Nikki or Steve to show me how to do the photo/video show w/music - I think this group of photos would be perfect for that! Maybe I'll give it a try soon.... Enjoy!

First Visit to Sea World
Mommy celebrates the Big 4-0!
Yikes. Yep, mommy turned 40 on May 3rd. Wow, hard to believe isn't it??? Yeah, for me too. Anyhoo, in order to forget about that....errr, I mean celebrate...I went on a 3-day weekend with some girlfriends to VEGAS! Kelly wanted me to pack her in my suitcase and come along. (notice the Thomas the Tank Engine pajamas which she demands to wear to bed every night!)
And here is one photo from the fantabulous weekend. The rest are top secret :-)
On Sunday when I returned, I very tiredly drove home from the airport (I had parked at the airport over the weekend), and when I got home, pulled up to my garage, and hit the garage clicker...it slowly opened...and this is what I saw:
NOT just a new bike....A brand new gleaming PINK and white 7-speed beach cruiser!!! Complete with toddler seat installed on the back. How cool is THAT!!! Daddy sure can pull out a cool surprise or two when he wants to! We've taken it for a spin or two, but need to now get some helmets before we head out for a serious ride.
Visit from AZ
Ok, again, doing some catching up here! The weekend of April 25-27, Kelly's Aunt Suzanne & Uncle Stan came to town from getting-very-warm Phoenix for one of their weekend whirlwind visits with the family. I personally enjoy these visits very much as Suzanne usually whips up events and activities where most of Gary's family, who actually live quite close to one another, actually get together and see each other for a change - ha!! Kelly enjoyed some one-on-one time with each of them on Sat morning. She showed them her room and her toys and of course, got in some story time. Both Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Stan are such wonderful animated readers! She just LOVES that!

Later that day, they all ventured out along with daddy and Willie to the Encinitas Street Fair (mommy was working).
Sunday we all met up with Aunt Susan & Uncle Tim at cousin Shawn's baseball game - this is something Gary & I have been meaning to do as Shawn has been playing a game or two every weekend for months now, but havn't.
We are so glad we did - he was awesome! He made some great plays and even a home run, for which Kelly shouted, YAAAYYY! along with the crowd! No Tip Top this trip though - we'll have to get that in on the next whirlwind!
