Kelly has always loved the water - ocean or pool - and we've been meaning to get her in swim lessons forever and so finally, we've done it. We signed her up at the Magdalena Ecke YMCA in Encinitas, and she goes every Saturday now. They have a huge teaching pool and wonderful, patient instructors. Although she is still very much a beginner, she loves the water and had no fear at all in participating in the class by herself, with me across the other side of the pool in the bleachers.
She's learning to blow bubbles, hold her breath under water, kick, paddle and float. She's making great progress and we'll probably sign her up again for November to keep her progress going thru winter (the pool area is enclosed and very toasty warm!). Hopefully she'll be swimming on her own and all ready come next summer!
