A Day at the Races

Del Mar is a busy place in summer - first we have 4-5 weeks of the fair. Daddy took Kelly one or two days, but mommy passed this year. Then right on its heels is the Del Mar horseracing season which lasts about 7-8 weeks. This is daddy's favorite, of course. And they have done a great job at making the infield a whole lot of fun for families. So we headed down for a day of fun, sun and racing.

They have a really cool mural painted along the wall of the "under track tunnel" leading to the infield with images of the people and places in Del Mar/San Diego, past & present.

The infield is like a kids' paradise, full of fun things to keep them busy while parents make their bets and watch the races! There are bouncehouses, games, and our favorite, Dooney's magic show!

We took a cooler full of drinks & snacks and picnicked under a tree. There are pony rides (which Kelly opted out of this year), facepainting and tatoo artists - all for free!
Kelly chose a beautiful butterfly facepainting....

and Hello Kitty tattoo!

We had a great day!
